                                      in Healing - In the battle to save a toe,

                            foot or limb, pyperbaric oxygen can pack

                            a tremendous punch against refractory

                            osteomyelitis.  A look at the evidence and

                            rationale for considering an HBO referral

                            when you patient has chronic refractory

                            osteomyelitis, highlighted by a case

                            example where the alternative would have

                            been amputation

                             venous pathology and implications in

                             chronic lower extremity wounds, with an

                                      Approach Measure Up? - An evidence-

                             based comparison of different

                             compression of different compression

                             bandages and a look at ideal "game

                             situations" for each

4:00 - 4:30 pm       Add PT, Add Another Dimension of

                                      Wound Management - Wound care has

                             always been a part of physical therapy

                             education and practice, however the

                             number of clinics taking advantage of this

                             dimension is still small.  Adding physical

                             therapists and physical therapy assistants

                             utilizes an interdisciplinary approach and

                             adds a wide range of proven therapies

                             such as ES, US, PLWS, pneumatic

                             compression, therapeutic exercise (just to

                             name a few) that hae enormous benefit

                             in reducing time to heal.  A holistic

                             discussion about what adding a PT to the

                             team does for a clinic and ultimately the

                             patient.

                             topic in wound care for the past 10 years,

                             what can we say about progress made in

                             addressing bioburden?  What approaches

                             have contributed to the best success in

                             overall reduction of wound bed contami-

                             nation?  Discussion will defining bio-

                             burden and distinguishing between

                             critical contamination and infection

8:55 - 9:25 am       Burn Care in the Non -Burn Clinic -

                             Inevitably, sound clinics will treat minor

                             burns that do not require specialized

                             treatment in a burn clinic.  What "pearls"

                             can a burn expert give health care

                             providers in such an environment about

                             proper acute and chronic handling of

                             minor burns, including ABA nomenclature

                             topical dressings and post healing

                             precautions?

9:30 - 10:00 am      Wound Care in Rural America - What is

                             the reality for provision of wound care in

                             rural parts of America?  A presentation of

                             the unique challenges and what is being

                             done to achieve positive outcomes in

                             these areas, including practice pearls for

                             those working in such areas

10:20 - 10:55 am    Quandries from the Clinic- Expert Advice

                                       on Tough Cases - Three ten minute cases

                             presented for brief discussion and real-

                             time collaborative review by a panel of

                             speakers (discussing concerns,

                             approaches, goals)

11:00 - 11:35 am    Documenting Wound Progress- Tools for

                                       the Bedside and the Chart - How do you

                             know your patient is getting better?  The

                             demand for documenting outcomes has   

                             never been greater.  This session

                             provides a review of reliable and valid

                             methods of wound assessment and a

                             look at the implications electronic

                             medical record keeping
